The year has barely begun, and yet God is already on the move! We’re thrilled to share the remarkable experiences from our recent trip to Kenya, where eyes were opened, bonds were built, and God’s provision poured out.
January 31, 2024 – Empowering Young Leaders and Spreading Hope
Upon our arrival in Kenya, we were warmly welcomed by a group of young Kenyan leaders who are doing great work to impact the country and the continent for Christ. They all consider Nick a father, mentor, and hero in the faith. It was a humbling moment, reminding us of the gift and duty God has given us to nurture the next generation in their faith journey—praise God he is already lifting up young leaders, across the world!
Later that evening, Nick addressed over 800 young adults and missionaries at the KKrew Bible Study, sharing a message centered on the Cost of Serving Jesus, and then the peace and provision found in Him (Philippians 4:19). Many of these young adults are ministering in the High Schools of Kenya and the surrounding countries through a sister organization called Kubamba. They saw 600,000 young people give their lives to Jesus just last year! As we plan for NickV Ministries future events in Africa, Kubamba will be a major part of that journey.
February 1, 2024 – Building Partnerships and Impacting Communities
Our second day was dedicated to building partnerships with the government and local ministries. We had the privilege of meeting with the First Lady of Kenya, Rachel Ruto, at the Kenya State House. She is a mighty woman of God who led the nation of Kenya, with her husband, President William Ruto, in a Solemn Assembly for repentance and prayer in February of 2023. During this prayer gathering they asked God for a 5-year drought to end and the rains to come. One month later, Kenya began a season of abundant rain leading to an unusually high harvest. Three weeks ago, she gathered thousands of Kenyans again for a time of Thanksgiving for God’s provision.
Rachel’s commitment to prayer and repentance, along with her efforts in fostering national unity, left a profound impact on us. Our time together solidified our ongoing partnership with Kenya and also laid the groundwork for our upcoming East Africa Tour in 2026.
February 2, 2024 – Sharing Hope and Joy at Moi Girls School
One of the most memorable moments of our trip was our visit to Moi Girls School, a very prestigious school established in 1964. When we arrived, they were eager to remind us that Nick had visited their school in 2007. Several teachers were still there from that visit and remember him talking about his desire to have a wife. It was very enriching for them to follow Nick’s journey and see that he is now married with 4 children.
There were 2,500 staff and students in attendance for this assembly. The majority of the students are believers (which is very common in Kenyan schools), and about 5% were Muslim.
Nick’s entrance was electric—the students absolutely love him. Shortly after introductions and a beautiful acapella worship song from the students, Kubama was there to lead a time of worship and dance. The students knew every word and every dance move along with Kubamba. It was a sight to behold as they sang and danced along, embodying the fervor and passion of a generation captivated by the Gospel of Christ.
Nick delivered a beautiful message, calling everyone to live out their faith with boldness and holiness. He addressed the small Muslim population several times, encouraging them to consider Jesus and the salvation that comes only through Him. The auditorium was so packed Nick wasn’t able to have girls come forward, so instead he had them stand to receive Christ. Kubamba is helping us with the follow up and will ensure that every girl who responded receives our follow up 8-day videos.
This was one of the most electric, joy filled atmospheres we have ever experienced. The sound of worship, praise and response to Nick’s message was deafening, and Nick commented afterward that the prayers of the saints of Kenya have drawn us to this place.
February 3, 2024 – Fostering Economic Transformation and Spiritual Growth
As we concluded our time in Kenya, we engaged in meetings focused on economic empowerment and spiritual growth. Connecting with visionary leaders who share our passion for transformation was both inspiring and productive, and these discussions underscored the importance of holistic ministry—addressing both physical and spiritual needs.
One meeting was with a man who employs 240,000 people and has a God-given vision for economic transformation similar to Nick’s. Another meeting was with a man who left a successful career in business and banking in the US to start a company that now employs 30,000 farmers, and pays them roughly four times the average salary of a typical farmer.
February 4, 2024 – Spreading the Gospel Across Universities
Our journey culminated with a powerful outreach service at Mount Kenya University, where thousands gathered to hear the Gospel message of hope. The response was overwhelming, with many making decisions to follow Christ. Through media coverage and live-streaming, the impact of this event extended far beyond the auditorium, reaching hearts and homes across the nation.
Though Kenya has a high percentage of Christians, they are still dealing with elevated levels of poverty and joblessness, as well as corruption in government, false doctrines and witchcraft that continually challenge their faith—and so we are already looking forward to our 2026 East Africa tour and partnership with Kubamba to see a move of God that is long lasting!
Until Next Time
As we continue our ministry journey, we remain committed to spreading the love of Christ, transforming lives, and nations one step at a time. Join us as we press forward in faith, trusting in God’s provision and guidance—and thank you for your unwavering support and prayers. Together, we can make a difference that echoes throughout eternity.
