As we step further into this year, we find ourselves gaining speed with our to-do lists and replacing our time in the word with time in our calendars. Maybe you’ve lost steam or are about to reach those harder books in your bible reading plan. Whatever the reason you may be tempted to put God’s word aside, we want to encourage you not to pencil God in at the bottom of your to-do lists.
This oldie but goodie is a great reminder of why we need to remain in God’s word:
To inspire you to get back to your reading plan we’ve created a FREE print out of one of the most beloved passages in the bible, Psalm 23. This timeless passage is one we all should keep close to our hearts, reminding us of the direction, purpose, and solace that is found in the ever-present embrace of our Shepherd, Jesus Christ.
We are the sheep
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
(Psalm 23:1)
Imagine the vastness of a serene pasture, and in the midst of it stands the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, watching over His flock with unwavering love and compassion. In the ministry of Life Without Limbs, we are reminded that no matter what our circumstances may be, our Shepherd provides abundantly for our every need. In our weakness, His strength shines through, and in our lack, His provision overflows. Just as a shepherd guides his sheep to green pastures, our Savior leads us to a place of spiritual nourishment and sustenance, ensuring that we lack nothing in His presence.
“He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.”
(Psalm 23:2)
In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it’s easy to become entangled in the chaos around us. However, our Shepherd invites us to a place of rest and peace, where the soul finds solace and the heart discovers tranquility. Just as sheep find rest in lush, green pastures, we, too, can find rest in the arms of our Savior. Beside still waters, He leads us, providing a sanctuary for our weary hearts to be refreshed and renewed.
“He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”
(Psalm 23:3)
Our Shepherd not only tends to our physical needs but also restores our souls. In the journey we’re sharing here at Life Without Limbs, we witness the transformative power of Jesus, leading us on paths of righteousness. As we surrender to His guidance, we discover purpose and meaning, knowing that every step we take is under the loving gaze of our Shepherd. His name is glorified in our lives as we follow the righteous path He lays before us.
Even in the valleys
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
(Psalm 23:4)
Life is fraught with challenges, and the journey may at times lead us through valleys of darkness. Yet, fear not, for our Shepherd walks alongside us. In every year and every season, we can find comfort in the knowledge that His presence surpasses any trouble this world may bring. His rod protects us, and His staff gently guides us, offering reassurance that we are not alone in the shadowy valleys of life.
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”
(Psalm 23:5)
In the face of adversity, our Shepherd prepares a feast for us, demonstrating His abundant grace and mercy. Even in the presence of our enemies, He lavishes us with blessings that overflow. The oil of His anointing brings healing and strength, enabling us to face opposition with unwavering faith and courage.
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
(Psalm 23:6)
As we reflect on these comforting words, let us carry them in our hearts all throughout the year, and in every aspect of life, let us trust in the unwavering goodness and mercy of our Shepherd. May His presence guide us, His love sustain us, and His promise of eternal dwelling bring hope to our souls.
